THE BRAVE ONE STARS BRAVE FIGHT SCENE
The stars of The Brave One took part in a very realistic fight scene that left them bruised. |
Director Neil Jordan didn’t hold back the brutality in the scene when a gang of thugs jump and unsuspecting Jodie Foster and her fiancé walking their dog through Central Park at night in The Brave One. |
Jordan describes shooting that scene for optimal realism even if it meant a few scrapes and bruises for the stars. |
“Yeah, a few people got hurt, they did. Yeah they did. It hurts that stuff. I mean if you do it well it hurts but that’s the only way to do it. Oh there were no broken ribs or broken bones but there were scrapes and knees and bits of blood and stuff like that. I had to make it real.” |
Naveen Andrews’ character who gets the worst of the beating tried to remember if he got through the scene unscathed. |
“Did I get hurt? Maybe I got some skin off a knuckle or something but I don’t really call that being injured, you know. I don’t think so.” |
Neil Jordan will continue to explore how violence affects innocent people when he directs a screenplay he wrote about serial killings in a futuristic city called A Killing Carnival Row. The Brave One opens Friday, September 14th in theaters nationwide. |
