THE BLACK DONNELLYS SHOW IRISH MOB

The Black Donnellys is the new series on NBC which features the lives of the Irish brothers Donnelly who would do whatever it takes to protect one another including going outside the law and turning to organized crime.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Jonathan Tucker is the eldest Donnelly Tommy who is the peaceful warrior of the family keeping his brothers in line.

“Trying to keep his brothers out of trouble, trying to relieve the weight of the world off my shoulders with a little humor and some smarts. Everybody is trying to get out of this neighborhood in many ways, whether they know it or whether they don’t. The problem with Tommy is he’s just trying to stay afloat. He’s not trying to do anything really magnificent or powerful or anything really special in his mind. He’s literally just trying to survive and keeping the most important people around him safe and sound.”

Turistas star Olivia Wilde is Jenny Reilly, the love of Tommy’s life but she views the Donnellys as her big brothers and more than just the love interest.

“And I think of her as sort of their adopted sister. She doesn’t have a mother and they have a very strong mother and so she was attached to their hip from the beginning and knows them all very well and they’re like brothers to her. You don’t feel that you can predict what she’s going to do and she’s interesting. It’s a whole new take on the kind of young girl and she’s not just the love interest which is an unusual thing when it’s a story primarily about a bunch of guys. Female characters are often just there to be the love interest but she’s really holding her own as a character and that’s rare and really exciting for me.”

The Black Donnellys is written and directed by Crash Academy Award winner Paul Haggis and airs on NBC.
