THE BACKSTREET BOYS REMAIN UNBREAKABLE
The Backstreet Boys have released their latest album ‘Unbreakable’ which marks the bands first album without original member, Kevin Richardson |
One of the most successful Pop groups of all time with over 75 million albums sold worldwide, The Backstreet Boys have released their fifth studio album, ‘Unbreakable’ and it’s the bands first album without original member Kevin Richardson, who unexpectedly left the band before the recording began. The band, who have been working on the album for well over a year celebrated the release of ‘Unbreakable’ with a party in Hollywood, California for their friends and family. |
We caught up with The Backstreet Boys at the party to discuss their thoughts on finally having the album done and getting the chance to celebrate the release at the party. |
“I didn’t realize how stressed I was because it took us a year and a half to actually record this record and I felt like a weight was lifted off our shoulders to finally have it out. I think even as far as where music is now adays for us to still be around and to be able to do music and do great music and have turnouts like this I think it’s amazing. Really it’s exciting.” |
Last summer, just before the band went into the studio to record ‘Unbreakable’ founding member Kevin Richardson decided to take a break from The Backstreet Boys and pursue other interests, most notably parenthood. With his blessing the four remaining members, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean proceeded to record their follow up album to 2005’s platinum release ‘Never Gone.’ |
“It was a little weird you know going in and doing this record without Kev but I mean he gave us his blessing to move forward as four and we gave him our blessing to go forward with his personal life. He’s now a proud father. Him and his wife had their very first child. He’s doing his thing. He’s really happy and who knows he’s might even show up and that’d be great. So, things are good. Things are good.” |
We also wanted to find out the bands thoughts on recording without Kevin for the first time. |
‘Inconsolable’ is the first single off ‘Unbreakable’ which made it’s debut in the Top 40 Chart at #39. Due to the recent writers strike, The Backstreet Boys televised performance on Jimmy Kimmel in early November had to be rescheduled for a later date which as of yet is unannounced. Look for The Backstreet Boys to start an arena tour in support of ‘Unbreakable’ in 2008. |
