THE ACTUAL GET HELPING HAND FR SCOTT WEILAND VELVET REVOLVER
The Actual talk about releasing their debut album under Scott Weilands Record Label, Softdrive Records. |
The Actual have released their debut album ‘In Stiches’ and the band received help from Scott Weiland and his new Record Label, Softdrive Records. The Actual were approached by Weiland, who also produced the album along with Douglas Grean, and the band happened to be fans of Weilands work with both Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots. |
We caught up with The Actal who are currently touring in support of ‘In Stiches’ to discuss their thoughts on being approached by Scott Weiland and to find out if he had a very hands on approach to producing the album. |
“I would say the first word was ‘Wow!’ We were pretty amazed that someone that we were such huge fans of was excited about working with us. We were just amazed and incredibly thrilled. He was very hands on, with the vocals especially. I fell into some patterns with my vocal melodies and he really helped me step outside that stuff and try some new things and stretch out the range. Yeah, he was quite involved.” |
Expectedly, there were some delays for The Actual in releasing ‘In Stiches,’ as the band went through not one but two line up changes by adding drummer Aaron Bonsall and guitarist Ben Flanagan to the mix midway through the recording process. We also talked about the delays in working in two new members to the band. |
“Everything went pretty smooth in recording the record but we had some line up changes. We changed drummers in the middle of the record and then we got Ben (guitar) and finished the record with Ben. It took a long time. We recorded and went on tour and recorded some more, then went back on tour but we kind of got to do it on our own pace and we got to do it how we wanted to do it. And Douglas Grean who produced it with Scott was awesome and was a great help. It was a really really awesome experience.” |
The Actual recently announced that they have joined forces with Fuse and JVC Mobile to present “The Actual Worst Day/Best Video Contest.” The Actual are shooting a video for their new single “This Is The Worst Day Of My Life (Do You Want To Come Over?)” and they are currently asking their fans to make their own videos and 3 lucky winners will have the public vote to see which video will appear on Fuse and have Scott Weiland present it. Look for The Acutal on the upcoming Warped Tour as the band will be performing for the month of August, with dates beginning August 10th in Buffalo and extending until August 25th in Los Angeles, Ca. |
