THA DOGG POUND GO INDIE BEFORE RETURNING TO THE MAJORS
Tha Dogg Pound, Daz and Kurupt, are back with their first official album, Cali Iz Active, since their double platinum 1995 debut, Dogg Food. The duo released several independent projects as Dillinger and Young Gotti. The new album, which hits stores on June 27th, features guest appearances by B-Real, Busta Rhymes, David Banner, and Paul Wall, and production by Battlecat, Fredwreck, the Alchemist, Jazze Pha, Ryan Leslie, and Sean “Diddy” Combs. |
Tha Dogg Pound will release their new album on Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle Records through Koch Records. Daz explained what Snoop Dogg brings to the table. He said |
“Like Snoop bring a lot to the table you know what I’m sayin’? He tell us like, ‘Yeah do this and this,’ and it be some good concepts cause you know he travels the world so he sees a lot more than what we just see in the hood you know what I’m sayin’? That’s my cousin, so you know, we conversate. We business people. I got him into this independent stuff you know what I’m sayin’? As far as he seen what his little cousin do and then we decide what’s the next independent which they said Koch, you know what I’m sayin’? He convinced me and we rolled with it for one album. Got all the money up front.” |
Daz Dilinger will release his new solo album, So So Gangsta, on July 18th, on Jermaine Dupri’s SoSo Def label. Kurupt is also working on two solo projects. The first will be released independently and the second through Priority-Capitol Records. |
Later this month, Tha Dogg Pound will be heading out on tour with Ice Cube. The tour kicks off in Anaheim, California, on April 20th. |
