TAYLOR SWIFT HONORED BY NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS
Taylor Swift won at the Nashville Songwriting Awards, and she talked about what she had to do to earn respect in the industry. |
Taylor Swift keeps on cranking out the awards. She has been nominated Songwriter / Artist of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters Association International at the 38th Annual Nashville Songwriters Foundation Hall of Fame. At the awards held October 14, Swift tied with Country Music powerhouse Alan Jackson for the honor. |
Despite her age, seventeen, and some of the youthful subject matter, she still maintains respect… and we asked her ‘why?’ |
“I mean of course when you come out there’s going to be people that are trying to bring up the negatives of every situation to see if you can handle it. A lot of people who say negative things in the beginning are just testing you to see if you’ll crack under pressure. I’ve been in interviews before where people have laid out statements that they’ve gotten from other people saying, ‘teenagers can’t do it, teenagers can’t do it, teenagers can’t do it,’ how do you feel about this? You have to be able to take that and keep on going and motivate you even more to do what you want to do. You just have to be very serious about it. There’s no playing around. If you don’t want to do this one-hundred percent and have the motivation and drive to do it then maybe those naysayers will get the best of you, but I could never let that happen.” |
Swift has nominations for the American Music Awards, the Country Music Awards, and she’s also had a streak of 8 consecutive weeks at Number One on the Billboard Country album charts. She’s currently on tour with Brad Paisley, but she’ll soon be headed out with Kenny Chesney. |
