TAKING BACK SUNDAY IN HEART OF US SWINE FLU TERRITORY
Taking Back Sunday just completed a promo tour pre release of their forthcoming album, New Again, and they talk about being faced with swine flu. |
Taking Back Sunday is in the middle of a promotional tour shaking hands with fans in advance of their album, New Again. The album comes out June 2nd. One thing they’re not thinking about is Swine Flu. Escape The Fate cancelled their Mexican dates, Dragonforce postponed dates in Central America, and Oasis recently hunkered down in a hotel in Venezuela hoping to avoid contact with the disease. |
Taking Back Sunday played Bamboozle and shook hands with fans in the New York City area, which has the highest number of swine flu cases in the United States. The band’s Adam Lazzara says they can’t worry about it, and they’ve been through the pandemic thing before. |
“It really doesn’t… stuff like Swine Flu, I don’t know if we should be worried about it? Remember SARS. There was a while where there was a SARS outbreak…” [Matt] “…and Anthrax.” [Adam] “We were in Canada and there were all these cases in all the cities we were in about SARS outbreaks and stuff.” |
Matt Rubano added: |
“If you just don’t watch TV, you’ll probably just go about your life completely normally. If you’re watching Fox and CNN all day long you’re going to know how many dudes in Kansas and how many people in New Jersey have swine flu. I’m not trying to [belittle it]. If these people are really getting sick and dying, that’s terrible. I think people get caught up in the news so much so that they’re more concerned that there is this thing rather than ‘How is it spread? How do we prevent it? Is it curable?’ There’s a lot of heavy things that people consider these days like it being the end of times and epidemics and all this stuff…” [Adam] “…like the Mayan calendar.” [Matt] “Yeah, ‘It’s 2012 soon, baby the world’s gonna end.’ I just feel like Adam said, ‘Remember SARS?’ So it just stopped?
