SYSTEM SERJ INPUT INTO NEW BAD ACID TRIP
(VIDEO) Serj Tankian talks about Serjical Strike, and one of the label’s bands, Bad Acid Trip, shares info about their forthcoming effort. |
Serj Tankian is set not only to play solo artist, but to continue as the principal force behind his Serjical Strike records. One of the more anticipated releases is the forthcoming Bad Acid Trip album. |
Tankian also signed Fair To Midland, Buckethead, and Slow Motion Reign, and he talked about what his involvement with his bands is. |
“It depends. There have been some situations where I’ve done some production, but generally what I like to do with everyone that we’re working with is to just listen to the songs and give my own two cents, and then let them decide what they want to do and have them go for it. I always like to hear and then give my two cents on it because it’s an an extra bouncing board for them. And I do the same with songs that I write with them, for them to hear songs. Because when you have artists that you mutually respect you want to hear what they’re up to and you want them to hear what you’re up to and get a feedback, an honest feedback and that’s always good.” |
Tankian added that what he always liked about Bad Acid Trip, who are in the throes of recording a new album, is that they’re self-sufficient from the music all the way down to the artwork. The band’s frontman Dirk talked about their creativity. |
“Each of us are artists in our own right. We all have our own ideas so we’re already creating art that goes to the side or whatever, and you say, ‘This would be good for this event or this idea.’ As far as the concept for the album, we have to hear the album before we can come up with the artwork. We would want the artwork to be part of that music in some respect, especially with this new album because it’s going to be a clean slate for us with hopefully all new songs. I don’t think you can really come up with the artwork prior to hearing the album. I mean not the finished album, but at least how the songs are going to come out. We all know how they sound in our head, but they could all change and the art would change with that, so…” |
Tankian added that not only does he help with Bad Acid Trip ideas, they actually help him as well with his music. Look for new Bad Acid Trip music in early 2007. |
