System Of A Down will return to the top spot on the Billboard chart with part two of their two part album, Hypnotize. The album scanned almost 350,000 copies, and it was over the summer that their first part, Mesmerize, hit the top spot. |
In both instances the band played club shows to treat fans and to create buzz. Earlier this year the band embarked on a guerilla club tour, which got them up close and personal. They continued that to some extent recently playing the cozy New York City club Webster Hall surrounding the release of Hypnotize. Vocalist Serj Tankian explained that it was nice to be closer to the fans. |
“They were fun. You know, we haven’t been a small club atmosphere in a while and it was good to hear that sound coming back, and being more intimate with the fans and being able to feel everything closer. It was fun.” |
With Hypnotize debuting at Number One, System Of A Down becomes the first artist in chart history to have two Number One studio album debuts in the same calendar year. System Of A Down’s Hypnotize/Mesmerize will be available as a DualDisc featuring a film on the making of the two albums. System Of A Down’s 2 Dollar Bill show taping at Webster Hall is set to air next month. |
