SUPER PRODUCER REDONE, DISCUSSES HIS PERFECT COLLABORATION WITH LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga is poised for a huge Grammy year in 2010 as she’s up for Grammy’s for Song of the Year for her hit single “Poker Face” and Record and Album of the Year for her breakout album “The Fame.” Her other two nominations include the Best Electronic/Dance album and Best Dance Recording categories, as it seems Lady Gaga and super producer RedOne have become a formidable songwriting duo collaborating on both #1 songs “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.” RedOne is an award winning Moroccan-Swedish producer/songwriter who has penned hits for New Kids on the Block, Akon, Brandy, Enrique Iglesias and Lionel Richie to name just a few. So how did RedOne come across the vocal taletns of Lady Gaga?

At the Grammy Nomination event RedOne talked about why he decided to work with Lady Gaga.

“I told my manager that I don’t want to work with any unsigned artists because I have a hit and I just want to work with big names. Then he was like ‘Yeah, but there’s this girl and she’s going to be a superstar. She’s incredible, but she just got dropped.’ I was like ‘No! Not again!’ Everyone was like, just meet her and you decide. I met Lady Gaga and the first thing I was like ‘Hi my name is RedOne’ and she was like Lady Gaga with the shades and the whole…like this you know. I was like OK and we started talking David Bowie, Motley Crue…all these stars, Rock Stars and Pop Stars that we love the same. That day I was like ‘Let’s go to the studio and try something.’ I just felt she’s an incredible star I didn’t care. I don’t care if you’re signed or you get signed or if you don’t get signed I’m going to work with you!”

RedOne also talked about having a perfect collaborating partner that can showcase his songs.

“So we went to the studio and wrote ‘Boys, Boys, Boys!’ That first song and it’s one of the favorite songs on her album and it just started that magic and we knew that It was me and her. It felt like all these fourteen years of struggling made sense. I met somebody that is going to showcase me and I’m going to showcase her. We’re just like the perfect collaboration and I love her.”

Lady Gaga’s single “Bad Romance” recently reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart making British chart history as she now holds the title of most #1 songs in the same year by a female artist for her hits “Just Dance”, “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance.” RedOne was also hired by Michael Jackson to produce what was supposed to be his upcoming new album, however after Michaels death that plan never came to fruition. Lady Gaga is currently in the midst of a North American Tour with dates extending until January 24th in New York City. The Grammy Awards will be shown live on CBS on Sunday January 31st at 8pm.
