SUNSHINE ANDERSON SAYS BLACK MEN HAVE ISSUES
R&B singer Sunshine Anderson released her sophomore album, Sunshine At Midnight, last month. The new album features production by Mike City, Raphael Saadiq, Warren Campbell, Walter Mislap, Nottz, and Dr. Dre. Anderson released her gold-certified debut, Your Woman, in 2001. The set featured the hit, “Heard It All Before” which was a song aimed at lazy men. The first single from the new project is “Something I Wanna Give You” which picks up right where “Heard It All Before” left off. |
Anderson explained that she doesn’t have it out for black men but she feels certain things need to be said. The singer said, |
“It is what it is. It just is what it is you know. Y’all got some issues. I know ladies have issues too you know. But it is what it is you know. I’mma be real serious you know I feel like black men have responsibilties in their communities, in their families, you know in their homes with their children and some of these n***as ain’t being men. You know I’m not the only one. Every song on Beyonce’s album, she’s talking big stuff. It just is what it is. You know so hey it’s not my fault if the first singles just happen to be you know some anthems if you will. I like that the ladies know they can come to me. That the ladies know they can trust me to say it like it needs to be said, no sugarcoating you know true, honest and real, so I ain’t mad.” |
