STORY OF THE YEAR ENJOYING SUCCESS AT NEW LABEL
After relocating to Epitaph Records, Story of the Year are finding a tremendous amount of success and the band talks about the switch |
After enjoying two successful albums, ‘Page Avenue’ and ‘In the Wake of Determination’ on major label Maverick Records, Story of the Year decided to make the switch to indie label Epitaph Records and the band couldn’t be happier with the success of their debut Epitaph release ‘Black Swan.’ The album, which was released at the end of April debuted at #18 on the US Billboard Top 200 Chart and landed on the UK Rock Chart at #6. |
We caught up with Dan Marsala of Story of the Year when the band performed at Bamboozle Left in California to get their thoughts on making the label change and how things are going so far with their partnership. |
“Yeah, we’re on a new label Epitaph Records. It’s probably the best thing that has happened to us in the last five years because they are amazing people. We have a great relationship so far. Everything is going really good. They have a really good personal relationship with their bands and they really care about the music and what we want to achieve, so they really care about their bands. It’s not like a corporate money making deal you know it’s more just a tight knit family. And yeah, we’re definitely excited to be on the new label.” |
Story of the Year are set to be a headliner on the annual Vans Warped Tour in 2008 and will play at all Warped Tour shows beginning June 20th in Pamona, California and extend until August 17th in Carson, California. Story of the Year will then perform over in Europe playing the Groezrock festival and some shows in Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. Look for a full tour of Australia in the near future as well as the release of the bands upcoming new DVD, which is entitled ‘Our Time Is Now.’ The DVD follows the band through the recording process of ‘Black Swan’ and it will be released on May 13, 2008. |
