STONE SOUR SINGER OVERCOMES JAGER TO HEADLINE JAGER
Since 2002, Jagermeister has been bringing top notch metal to the masses for their bi annual Jagermeister Music Tour. 2007’s lineup is one of the best yet, featuring Stone Sour, Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall. In the past the tour has featured top metal acts Disturbed, Hed Pe, Slayer and Slipknot and this is Stone Sour’s first go around headlining the tour. |
Lead vocalist Corey Taylor of both Slipknot and Stone Sour, has battled and overcome his alcoholic demons in the past and it’s well known Jagermeister used to be his drink of choice on many occasions. We caught up with Taylor and lead guitarist Jim Root, who also performs in Slipknot and Stone Sour, to talk about headlining the tour this year, getting on the road with old friends Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall, and touring without a taste for Jagermeister the drink. |
“A long time ago, yeah it was (my drink of choice) before I figured it out. Before I discovered the wonders and beauty of Bourbon Whiskey. Before we started peeing red syrup. Not good! Before I started throwing up smurfs. The tours been great man, honestly. We’re out with a bunch of buds and the shows have been off the hook. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour, you know. All the crowds have just been great every city we’ve gone to. Any time you get on a tour you never know what to expect and everytime we walk out on the stage a huge roar goes up and I’m like ‘Wow! Who in the hell did they come to see? Is it really us?’ So I mean it’s been really awesome.” |
The 2007 Jagermeister Tour will extend until May 4th in the bands hometown of Des Moines Iowa. It was recently announced that Stone Sour will be releasing a special edition album combining acoustic versions of songs and rareities from the bands first two albums, 2002’s self titled album ‘Stone Sour’ and 2006’s ‘Come What(ever) May.’ Look for this album to be released before Taylor and Root start writing and recording Slipknot’s eagerly anticipated follow up album to 2004’s ‘Vol 3 The Subliminal Verses.’ (Pictured Corey Taylor photo courtesy Corey Alter) |
