STONE SOUR SCARS
Stone Sour discuss their latest single, “Scars,” and they talk about the inspiration behind the song and the video. |
Stone Sour is set for a tour of Australia, but they recently completed the Jagermeister tour in the United States. During their stint at home in the U.S. they prepared for the release of their new single “Made Of Scars.” |
Vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root talked about the inspiration behind “Made Of Scars.” |
[Taylor] “Scars was a song that was actually an older song that we had written back in ’95, and lyrically it was basically a road map of where I’d been. Basically kind of a statement saying that not all scars are visible, not all scars are on the surface. A lot of scars sit underneath. A lot of scars are eme emotional and psychological. It’s basically me showing the world where I’d come from. It’s funny because that song means more to me now than when I first wrote it. There’s a lot more on the body than there were a long time ago, dude. Yeah, that’s where the music and the song came from.” |
Taylor and Root also talked about making the video for “Made Of Scars.” |
[Taylor] “Yeah, yeah. We just did a video for it in Philly, a live video, and as Snoop Dogg would say, ‘It was off the hizzy.’ It was great. We really had a good time doing it. [It was a] straight live edit, edit after edit, but I’m telling you the first day that we got it we were just blown away. We were just like, ‘Holy Jesus, this is awsome.” [Root] “We were just a little bit more excited about this video than we were the ‘Sillyworld’ video. [Taylor] “Yeah, the whole ‘Sillyworld debacle was very frustrating, and then to get this and to have virtually instant gratification when it came to it. We were just like, ‘Wow. This is really good.” [Root] “It seems the less thought you put into something…” [Taylor]…the better it comes out, dammit.” |
Stone Sour will be overseas for most of the late spring/early summer playing the European Festival circuit playing such notables as the Download Festival, Rock Im Ring and Rock Am Park. |
