STONE SOUR RAILING AT MUSICAL CONVENTION WITH THROUGH GLASS
(VIDEO) Stone Sour single ‘Through Glass’ has risen to #1 on the mainstraim and active rock charts. Corey Taylor talks about the song, right here. |
Stone Sour’s hit single “Through Glass” recently took the Number 1 spot on the Mainstream and Active Rock Charts, marking the first Number 1 single in the band’s career. The song bests the Number 4 charting position the band reached with “Bother,” from their Gold-selling, self-titled debut album. The track is the first single off the band’s latest album, Come What(ever) May, which debuted at Number 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart when it was released on August 1st. |
We caught up with Corey Taylor and James Root of Stone Sour and Slipknot respectively to discuss the inspiration for their hit song and it’s interesting to note that although the song songs like a ballad, it’s really quite an angry song railing at musical convention and sticking their noses at the plastic MTV generation. |
“‘Through Glass’ was actually inspired by sitting in a hotel room in Europe watching MTV in Europe, which is probably worse than the MTV that’s here. I mean, there’s a lot of Pop, well it’s true man. There’s so many plastic Pop bands and Pop people and it’s like what is this. It’s very devoid of emotion as far as I’m concerened and it slowly started to make me angry and this is the song that came out of it. Surprisingly enough it’s actually a pretty angry song that is railing against musical convention today. The fact that there’s very little substance or soul to it.” |
Stone Sour are currently on tour with Family Values with Korn and The Deftones, until September 22nd in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Look for the band to head to Europe playing a run of dates with Flyleaf. The European leg of the bands tour in support of ‘Come What(ever) May’ will conclude November 9th in London. |
