STONE SOUR AND SLIPKNOT DO NOT MIX?
Lead vocalist, Corey Taylor, draws comparisons to his family in Stone Sour and the business of Slipknot, which could drive anyone crazy. |
As Stone Sour continue touring in support of their successful and Gold certified album, ‘Come What(ever) May,’ it’s hard to wonder when and if lead vocalist Corey Taylor and lead guitarist James Root will have time to rest before starting songwriting and recording with their other band, Slipknot. Fans of Slipknot are eagerly awaiting the band to get back into the studio to begin recording their next album, which has a tentative release date of 2008. In fact, Taylor and Root have been touring and recording practically non stop alternating between both bands since before the beginning of this decade. Obviously both bands are completely different and they both bring to the table chances to perform different styles of music, but from an insiders perspective, what’s the difference between the two bands? |
We caught up recently with both Taylor and Root to find out their thoughts on the internal differences between Stone Sour and Slipknot. |
“We never hang out man, seriously. I’ve even been in situations where I’ve seen people from Slipknot and we avoid each other at the same places. That’s not true, Walmart! It’s insane man, we just like being away from each other really, you know. But then again, that’s the tension. That’s the tension that helps create that music. This band (Stone Sour) is so much different. I mean it’s just the very opposite. It’s us getting along and getting together that really creates the art because we’re just fans of each others music and friends and we’ve known each other a really long time. It’s just good to have that you know. Because Slipknot could very much drive you nuts. It can drive you to weirdness really. I don’t want to mention any names but it is what it is.” |
