STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN CONDEMNED FIGHT SCENES
World Wrestling Entertainment champion Stone Cold Steve Austin stars as one of ten prisoners condemned to die on death row until a reality show television producer decides to step in and create a Survivor-like competition where they are left on an island to fight for their lives in The Condemned. |
Austin had to tone down his wrestling moves and deliver the fight scenes in a completely different style. |
“I was trained for my fight scenes by some of the best guys around, a guy named Richard Norton who’s done about 65 movies, a lot of movies with Jackie Chan and guys like that. He’s pretty much a martial arts wonder.” |
The winner of the game has their sentence dropped down to life imprisonment avoiding execution and must fight to the death. Steve says nobody in the cast held back a single punch. |
“I think the fight scenes in The Condemned are brutal, realistic, damn sure full of action and everything makes sense. There’s not one fight sequence where you go, ‘ah that wouldn’t happen,’ or they can’t do that. It’s the real deal. It’s the real deal good fighting. And we beat the hell out of each other.” |
Fight coordinator Richard Norton designed the moves specifically to cause pain so they would look as realistic as possible. The Condemned also starring Vinnie Jones opens Friday in theaters. |
