STEVE CARELL LIKENS ARK TO THE LOVE BOAT

Steve Carell felt like he was on The Love Boat in Evan Almighty.

In the film Evan Almighty Steve Carell is sharing space on an 80 foot wide, 275 foot long ark with thousands of wild animals to carry out God’s will of saving them from an impending flood.

Steve jokes that the whole experience reminded him of the popular television series The Love Boat.

“It’s interesting you bring up the Love Boat because Ted Lang is actually in this movie playing Isaac and he just serves drinks to all the animals. He’s the bartender on the ark. Also Gopher with Julie the cruise director is making sure that there’s lots of love exciting and new with the animals on the ark. It was all cut out of the movie but we shot probably eight months of just love stories and old TV celebrities having love stories with the animals on the ark. It didn’t fit. It’s a PG movie and we didn’t want to enter that realm.”

Evan Almighty is a family film opening tomorrow in theaters nationwide.
