Greg Kinnear takes a road trip with his family to enroll his 7 year-old daughter in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant which couldn’t come at a worse time for the Hoovers. Similar to the Partridge Family tour bus, Greg talks about the antique VW bus that is brought out of storage to get them there.rn

The 40 Year Old Virgin star Steve Carell is recruited as the driver of the VW bus in Little Miss Sunshine. He talks about what it was like to get behind the wheel of a 30 year-old vehicle.

“So the VW bus is like an early seventies sort of vintage model that thing that everybody kind of remembers. You don’t see a lot of them on the road anymore but they’re great cars that I have very strong memories of them when I was a kid. The Hoovers have one of these and unfortunately because all other options fail they’re forced to pull this thing out of retirement and that is the vehicle that takes them on this road trip. It’s a little crammed, it’s a little uncomfortable but it does a serviceable job of getting you from point A to point B.”

“Those cars have such a great safety record. Generally when you design a car is to put the wheels very close together and make the car very tall and under powered so essentially you have a car that has trouble getting up hills and yet in a slight wind will blow over. And no safety belts which for me is always a plus.”
