STATIC X GETTING HEAVIER WITH RETURNING GUITARIST
After releasing Cannibal, Static X talk about their natural progression into heaviness and reveal their next plans of going even further. |
After releasing ‘Cannibal,’ which is the bands follow up album to 2005’s ‘Start a War,’ Static X admit they can see the natural progression of their band getting heavier and heavier on each album. The four piece metal band from Los Angeles, released ‘Cannibal’ in April 2007 and on the strength of the heaviness in their new music, the band reached #36 on the Billboard Rock Chart with sells exceeding 300,000. The album also marked the studio return of their original guitarist, Koichi Fukuda. |
We caught up with Static X at this years Ozzfest to discuss the bands hit new album being the heaviest album yet. |
“I think all of our albums, if you look at them one next to another, they all kind of make sense and they’re always a natural progression. So, ‘Start of War’ was starting to get a little bit heavier and then it seemed like a natural progression to get full on heavy for ‘Cannibal.’ And the next record is going to be even heavier.” |
We also talked with Wayne Static of Static X to get his thoughts on what the band has in store for their fans on their next album. |
“I got a lot of ideas but I haven’t had any time to actually get into the studio and write stuff. We’ve wrote two new songs since the record came out. But, I know what I want to do. We’ve all talked about it, late night drunk and figured out what we’re going to do. It’s a good time to talk about things when you’re drunk. (The next album) It’s definitely going to be heavier and a step further that what ‘Cannibal’ was. We’re going to keep the guitar solos. Koichi did a great job on the new record on the guitar solos, so we’ll keep that thing going. Beyond that we’ll see what happens. That’s the initial idea.” |
Static X are currently touring on Ozzfest joining Ozzy, Lordi, Lamb of God, Daath, Devil Driver, Hatebreed, Ankla, 3 Inches of Blood and Behemoth with dates extending in the U.S. through the month of August. Wayne Static has also announced plans for his side project ‘Pighammer’ which he plans on enveiling towards the end of this year. |
