STARS COME OUT FOR THIRD ANNUAL HIP HOP SUMMIT ACTION NETWORK AWARDS DINNER
Nelly, Jermaine Dupri, Destiny’s Child, and Chrysler Financial were all honored for their continued contributions to the urban community at the 3rd annual Hip Hop Summit Action Network Awards Dinner, which was held on Wednesday, November 16th at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. |
Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Williams shared her thoughts on being honored at the event. She said, |
“I’m actually excited to be here amongst other people that are being honored. Just to be in the presence of people like Russell Simmons is so huge because they’re definitely inspirational to me because they do so much in the community. It just makes me feel good to give. I know my prayer to God was, you know, when you give me more, I want to give more. That’s my whole dream. I want to build youth centers. I want kids to have a place to come and talk. I want people who feel like that they don’t have a job, I want to be able to give people jobs one day. I want people with AIDS or HIV to feel like they have a place. You know whatever your problem is, I want you to know that you have a place.” |
Warner Music executive vice-president Kevin Liles gave the keynote address at the event, which was attended by Chingy, Diddy, Dallas Austin, Russell & Kimora Simmons, Misa Hylton-Brim, Minister Benjamin Chavis, Black Butterfly, Gayle King, Jim Jones, Jha Jha, and Chris Lighty. |
