SPIELBERG AND BAY TRANSFORM TOYS TOGETHER
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has admired Transformers from afar and she enjoyed the action of Transformers 3. |
What better combination for Transformers about a boy and his alien robot car than executive producer Steven Spielberg who is famous for bringing young talent like star Shia LaBeouf to unfamiliar worlds, and the master at action than director Michael Bay. |
Spielberg says even though Transformers delivers the action, it also has a character driven story. |
“It was character first, always character first. Who’s the mom? Who’s the dad? What’s that family relationship like? What’s he like at school? Is he bullied? Does he have a girlfriend that won’t give him the time of day? Maybe she’ll like him better if he gets a car.” |
The only back story director Michael Bay got from Spielberg was it was about a boy buying his first car that also happens to be an alien robot. |
“I just started to think OK what can I do with robots? What can I do in terms of action? And the first thing that struck me is robots going 80 miles an hour on a freeway and transforming at speed. The world’s never seen that. You can make that really cool. And I also think for adults it actually brings the kid out in you. I mean there’s places you just smile. There’s kind of a magic to the movie.” |
One of the locations to house the 30 foot tall Transformers was the plane hangar where Howard Hughes built the Spruce Goose.rn |
