SPARTAN WARRIORS NEVER SURRENDER
The Spartan Warriors of 300 were physically put to the task by turning themselves into fighting machines of the Spartan guard with rigorous strength and weight training using primitive tools such as medicine balls instead of modern machines. |
David Wenham and Vincent Regan describe what it was like to sculpt their bodies to achieve eight-pack abs. |
“We had to arrive here in Montreal eight weeks before we did anything else and immediately go into a form of boot camp which wasn’t exactly pleasant but it’s actually been fantastic. One of the greatest things I’ve taken away from this job is I’ve had the opportunity to get extremely fit. So in the end we would end up doing three hours training, the last hour being hell on earth really.” |
It was heavenly for Michael Fassbender, the leanest of the team who says their intense training became useful for the moral code of a Spartan warrior which is no retreat, no surrender. |
“The one thing that you can take away is never count any obstacle too big or if you believe in something, then you can move mountains. That’s kind of the obvious thing to take from but then they only were able to do that because they lived their lifestyle a certain way. Everything is black and white to them. It’s like kill or be killed. And that’s the only way. There is no option of retreat or surrender for them.” |
