SLIPKNOT RATES GRAMMY EXPERIENCE
Slipknot has played OzzFest several times, sold millions of albums, played to some of the biggest European Festival crowds on record, but until last week they had never won a Grammy. |
The group captured the award for Best Metal Performance for the song “Before I Forget.” The band was asked backstage where winning a Grammy ranks among their accomplishments, and Paul Grey said it’s up among the top. |
“It’s got to be up there towards the top with… starting a band and the first time… It’s up there with our first band practice, up there with the first time we sold a million records. It’s up there with the first time we sold out a show with 200 kids. It’s all relevant. It’s all part of the…having the opportunity to be in this band with these guys is just amazing. This goes up there on top of everything else because it’s all great to us with this.” |
The band added that the fans are really what matter to them, and that they wouldn’t be anything without the power of their following, dubbed “Maggots,” behind them. Slipknot is taking a break, but fans can get the live experience with the two-disc set, 9.0: Live. |
