Metal legends Slayer are set to release their latest album “World Painted Blood” on November 3rd and it will the bands highly anticipated follow up to 2006’s “Christ Illusion.” Slayer recorded “World Painted Blood” in Los Angeles along with Rick Rubin protege producer Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Slipknot) although they didn’t see much of Rubin at all during the recording process. For “Christ Illusion” Slayer debuted at #5 on The Billboard Top 200 Chart, making it the bands highest chart position of their career although they’ve always done really well with album sales as one of the most influential metal bands of all time. So does the band even follow the charts? |
Artisan News caught up with bassist and lead vocalist Tom Araya to get his thoughts on the band always doing really well with album sales. |
“Me, myself, speaking for myself, I don’t concern myself with how many records I sell. I know that we sell alot. Alot compared to industry standards. I know that. I know that we sell a really good amount of records otherwise Rick Rubin would have said ‘Goodbye!’ a long time ago. So I know that we move product so doing the circuit of the record companies, no one has ever said ‘No!’ to us. No one’s ever said ‘Nah!’ They’ve always said ‘Cool!’ |
At the end of 2008 Slayer released the first single, which was “Psychopathy Red,” which was released as a limited-edition red vinyl 7-inch in April for Record Store Day. Look for Slayer to be busy touring in support of “World Painted Blood” for at least the next two years. Slayer will perform on The Jimmy Kimmel Show on November 4th which is the same day as their Hollywood & Highland Hot Topic In-Store fan meet and greet in Hollywood, Ca. The band will then be touring Europe until the end of 2009. |
