SLAYER KNOW MAYHEM FESTIVAL WITH MARILYN MANSON WILL BE A SUCCESS
Mayhem Festival mastermind Kevin Lyman shares his thoughts on why Rockstar’s Mayhem Festival is such a success. |
The Mayhem Festival kicked off it’s second annual metal tour on July 10th in Sacramento, Ca and 2009’s version features sets from Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium and Killswitch Engage to name just a few. Tour founder Kevin Lyman, who also founded The Warped Tour, decided the metal scene needed it’s own touring festival and put together The Mayhem Fesitival’s first tour in 2008 which was a tremendous success. |
Artisan News caught up with lead vocalist of Slayer, Tom Araya to get his thoughts on knowing The Mayhem Festival will be a success in 2009 co headlining with Marilyn Manson. |
“From what I found out or heard about Kevin Lyman was that he was one of the initiators of The Warped Tour and that’s been going on for awhile now and has been very successful. So, he’s obviously been very successful at organizing a really big tour like that and from what I understand this is his metal thing and that’s how he wants to do this Mayhem thing. He’s really good at what he does so I know it’s going to be a success. You know what I mean? It’s like you know. It’s as easy as that.” |
Tom Araya also talked about touring again with Marilyn Manson even though they have fans at each end of the spectrum. |
“The tour that we did a few years back (with Manson) actually went really well. It was actually a really good tour. We have audiences that are at each end of the spectrum but it worked out pretty well because our audience was there and when we were off the stage they all kind of just like George of the Jungle or Tom Slick and walked away. A big crowd walked away which is cool. It was happy times, no violence. It was kind of good. It was good.” |
Mushroom Head, The Back Dahlia Murder, All That Remains, Behemoth and God Forbid are just a few of the other bands touring on The Mayhem Festival in 2009. Tour dates extend until August 15th in Dallas, Tx |
