SLAYER, ALICE IN CHAINS FEEL LEMMY IS THE TRUE GOLDEN GOD
The first annual Revolver Golden God Awards are set to air May 2nd on MTV2 and it was the first and only award show to honor the ear splitting genre of Heavy Metal music. With Europe having numerous awards shows that celebrate Heavy Metal, it seems The Revolver Golden God Awards were long overdue. With Ozzy getting the first annual Golden God Lifetime Achievement Award, it’s easy to see and recognize the major influence on music he has had along with his band Black Sabbath. So who else does some of Heavy Metals biggest names feel should be considered for future Golden God Awards? |
Artisan News caught up with Tom Araya of Slayer to get his thoughts on Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead being a true Golden God. |
“Lemmy. He’s it! He’s been around forever, you know what I mean? That says a lot about him.” |
We also caught up with Alice in Chains to find out who they fell in a Golden God. |
“Well I have blonde hair, so I could qualify. Lemmy! Lemmy! Is it wrong to nominate yourself? I’ll go with Lemmy. Yeah, totally. Lemmy’s good. Oh, Lemmy he’s like everyone’s great uncle. He kicked the door in for all us young upstarts. That’s right. He epitomizes the Rock N Roll extreme attitude you know. He really symbolizes it all and he’s still going strong. That’s all you can ask for in this game.” |
Just a few of the other bands given awards first Annual Revolver Golden God Awards were Isis, Metallica, Megadeth, Slipknot, Protest the Hero, Suicide Silence and Dethklok. Both Slayer and Alice in Chains are in the studio in the process of completing new albums which are due to be released this year. |
