SKILLZ WORKING ON THE MILLION DOLLAR BACKPACK

Rapper Skillz, formerly Mad Skillz, is currently working on a new album. The rapper, who is managed by the same team as Musiq Soulchild, has been touring and making a living as a ghostwriter for the likes of P. Diddy for the past couple of years.

Skillz shared what he’s been up to for the past couple of months. He explained,

“Right now I’m in the middle of working on my album. Well I’m close to finishing my album. It’s called The Million Dollar Backpack. Comes out either late summer, early fall on Big Kidz slash Koch Records. Just doing a lot of song writing in between finishing my album, doing a lot of song writing for a couple of other artists. Just staying busy, just trying to work, you know what I mean?”

Skillz released his critically acclaimed debut, From Where?, on Atlantic Records in 1996. He was slated to release the follow-up on Rawkus Records in 2001, but the label folded before it came out. He released an independent album, I Ain’t Mad No More, in 2002. The rapper later repackaged , I Ain’t Mad No More, and re-issued it with a few additional songs as Confessions of Ghostwriter in 2005.
