SIXX A.M. NOW A TRUE BAND, FINDS MODERN VINTAGE INSPIRATION
Sixx A.M. is set to release their new album Modern Vintage on October 7, and the group is a this-generation supergroup comprised of singer/songwriter/producer James Michael, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, and Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba. Modern Vintage is the follow-up to 2011’s This Is Gonna Hurt, which featured the breakout song “Lies Of The Beautiful People.” The first single from the new effort is “Gotta Get It Right,” and the band says they didn’t choose it for the reason you’d expect.
They admitted that Sixx A.M. started off as just a project and became a band, and we asked James and DJ Ashba when they thought the bond was solidified.
The album conjures up a contemporary take on such ’70s bands as Meat Loaf, Queen and Bowie, and the guys explain that was part of naming the collection Modern Vintage.
At the time of our sit down, Nikki Sixx was on the road with Mötley Crüe, who is on Their Final Tour, but Sixx A.M. says they have big things to announce in the fall. We will have more from the guys later.
