She Wants Revenge, who are currently touring in support of their smash self titled debut release, will next be back in the states to play two festival dates, San Diego Street Scene on August 4th and Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 6th. Lollapalooza, which was Perry Farrell’s brain child festival has really experienced success moving away from a traveling festival and becoming a three day, 8 stage and 130 band extravaganza rivaling Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits in terms of the amount of bands showcased. We caught up She Wants Revenge’s lead singer, Justin Warfield, to discuss Lollapalooza and it was interesting to find out he grew up attending Lollapalooza as a kid and couldn’t be more excited to be a part of Lollapalooza this year. |
She Wants Revenge are currently touring Europe and after performing at Lollapalooza the band will head to Australia and Japan for the first time for a run of dates in August. Lollapalooza boasts an outstanding lineup of some of todays hottest bands. This year, Lollapalooza, not only has increased from two to three days of music, but also the festival has increased it’s size with eight stages and more than 130 acts. Scheduled to appear on the lineup for 2006 are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Wilco, Death Cab For Cutie, The Raconteurs, The Flaming Lips, Ween, Queens of the Stone Age, The Shins, Common, Matisyahu, Umphrey’s McGee, Sonic Youth, Blues Traveler, Coheed And Cambria, Panic! At the Disco, She Wants Revenge, Wolfmother, Matt Costa and Blue October to name just a few. |
“They were very important to me. The fact that you could go watch Jim Rose’s Circus Sideshow and go rock out to Soundgarden and go watch Porno for Pyros and see the Boredoms playing experimental noise rock on the second stage. And you could go hangout and talk to Ray Manzarek from The Doors, while he does this thing with Michael McClure, this spoken word trip and he’s laying down Doors jams on the keyboard, I mean it’s an amazing thing. That’s why Perry put it together and I’m happy that it’s happening this year and that we’re a part of it.” |
