Shakira and Wyclef Jean of Fugees fame have hooked up for a new single that will be released to radio. “Hips Don’t Lie” is going for ads on pop radio this week, and it is also earmarked for the re-release of the Oral Fixation series of albums, possibly in DualDisc format.

The lovely latin star told us about “Hips Don’t Lie,” and adding it to her album.

“Yeah, well I just finished this song with Wyclef, from the Fugees and I’m very excited. It’s a great track. It was just a happy accident. We got together one day and the song arose and now I’m in trouble. and now it’s I think it’s a good thing. It’s good news, you know?”

In an interview just a few weeks ago, Shakira also told us how the collaboration came about, and she said that Wyclef got into her music from the tune, “La Tortura.”

“He really liked the song, “La Tortura,” which I had done — a Spanish song — and he was in love with the song. He started working on something, some idea, and then they called me. Someone called me and told me he was working on something for me, and the next day I was in Miami in the same studio with him, you know, and started cooking something and something is here already. I finished mixing yesterday and we’re in the mastering process, and I think it’s going to be at radio next week.”

Well next week has become this week, as the two hope to become the latest collaboration that hits the top of the charts. Collaborations have become all the rage, and nearly half of the songs on the pop charts are collaborations. There’s no word as to the re-release of the Oral Fixation albums, again, rumored to be on DualDisc.
