SHADOWS FALL PUSHING THE ENVELOPE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ON NEW
Shadows Fall talk about their upcoming album being a little more aggressive yet having big melodic moments as well |
Shadows Fall have set a September 15 release date for their new album Retribution. They’re in the studio working on their follow up album to 2007’s “Threads of Life” which debuted at #46 on The Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. Retribution will be their 6th full-length studio album and will feature a darker more aggressive Shadows Fall as well as venturing into heavy melodic songs. |
Artisan News caught up with lead vocalist Brian Fair just before the bands performance at Bonnaroo to get his thoughts on the upcoming new album pushing the envelope in both directions. |
“The new record is a little bit more agressive and faster than the last record but there’s still some big melodic moments. The last record was very melodic and this one’s maybe a little bit more of dark kind of agressive record. I think just because it’s a sign of the times you know. When we were writing we were kind of more in that place after coming off the road we were more about writing some brutal stuff, but like some of the chorus’ go to straight Def Leppardville though. So, we’ll take it. Our approach to this record was the heavy songs stayed heavy and the fast songs stayed fast but the melodic songs went all the way to arena rock land. We were like, if we’re going to push the envelope we’re going in both directions.” |
Shadows Fall are currently finishing up the new album although they do have a few tour dates booked, most notably will be the bands first ever performances in Alaska which will be June 25th and 26th in Anchorage before performing on July 3rd in Atlantic City, NJ. |
