SERJ TANKIAN LOOKS POST-SYSTEM WITH SOLO ALBUM
Serj Tankian, frontman for System Of A Down, is working on his first solo album in the wake of the band’s impending “indefinite hiatus”. Keywords: Serart, Me… |
System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has revealed that he’s in the throes of a solo album, which he hopes to release at some point in 2007. System Of A Down announced that the last time fans will see the band for a long while is on the 2006 OzzFest tour, which closed this weekend. |
Tankian said he’s looking forward to his solo album, which he had been working on for a while. |
“It’s hard to really explain, but I’ve done a lot of songs. I have a lot of songs for it already, and I’m… It’s going to be rock, mostly rock, and different — different than System, but I think it will have a lot of the truth telling that System has, and potency that it has, represented in a different way. That’s really all I can say.” |
Tankian added that the album will be very different than his expermimental and improvisational Serart project. |
“Serart was a collaboration that I did with Arto Tuncboyaciyan, and that was more of an improvisational record. We did the whole record in seven days, just walk in and do a whole record from scratch. And that was really fun. That would be more something to use for films or world music type of sphere. This would be more rock.” |
Tankian will also be busy supporting Bad Acid Trip, Slow Motion Reign, and his new signing Fair To Midland, which are all signed to his Serjical Strike label. |
