SENSES FAIL, THRICE, ESCAPE THE FATE, SAOSIN HELP KICK OFF 15TH YEAR OF WARPED TOUR
The most successful and longest running touring festiavl in America, The Vans Warped Tour kicked off it’s 15th Anniversary Tour June 26th in Pamona, Ca and put on a very special one night only event that on June 27th that transformed downtown Ventura, Ca into a Warped Tour playground featuring live performances, a dance party, a special VIP party and the premiere of Kevin Lyman’s new movie “Endless Bummer.” With performances from 3OH!3, NoFx, Underoath, Senses Fail, Thrice, Saosin, TV/TV, TAT, Less Than Jake and plenty other punk rock acts, Warped Tour celebrated the beginning of their 15th successful Summer. |
Artisan News caught up with Saosin, who are Warped Tour veterans to get their thoughts on the diversity of Warped Tour. |
“We’ve done this tour in 2005 and 2006 and now. So, it’s cool seeing the bands that you were on it with back in 2006 and it feels like nothing’s changed. So it’s a pretty good tour. Playing Warped Tour there’s so many different types of bands, hopefully if you can play in front of some of their fans hopefully you’ll do a good job and they end up liking you and coming to your own show when you come back to town. There’s no other tour where you can get this diverse of bands. That’s playing on one day. Normally you get clicky tours where it’s the same type of genres but this is a great tour for inter mingling fans. |
We also caught up with Thrice to get their thoughts on what a great opportunity it is for the band to perform on Warped Tour even though it can be a grueling tour in the middle of the Summer performing many days of the week. |
“It’s defintely a good opportunity to play for people that might not have seen you before or not know who your band is. So, we enjoy that. It is usually a grueling tour but we are only on for ten shows and then we’re on at the end of the tour for another five. So we kind of know how to function at it, but the first few times you do it it’s a little rough. The heat is the main issue. I don’t know we’re from Southern California and we don’t experience extreme heat at home but we definitely get a lot of it other places.” |
Senses Fail also talked about Warped Tour helping their career. |
“It depends. I think it’s definitely helped our career. So I think there’s so many people here you usually have really good crowds..” |
The Warped Tour will extend until August 23rd in Carson, California, wrapping around America with an ever changing lineup which will also feature Bad Religion, Chiodos, Fishbone, Less than Jake and Flogging Molly to name just a few. “Endless Bummer” will be released on DVD by National Lampoon in the Fall of 2009. The film chronicles 24 hours in the life of a group of teens contemplating what life will hold for them after high school. |
