SEAL, GAVIN DEGRAW, HARRY CARSON HELP MUSICIANS ON CALL
Seal, Gavin DeGraw, and New York Giants great Harry Carson were on hand at the Hard Rock in NYC to explain why Musicians On Call is important. |
Seal kicked off a benefit he hosted for Musicians on Call earlier this week at the Hard Rock Café in New York City. Celebs in attendance: Heidi Klum, New York Giants Football Hall Of Famer Harry Carson, and singer Gavin DeGraw among others. Musicians on Call was founded in 1999 with the goal of bringing live and recorded music to patients in healthcare facilities with hopes it would help the healing process. To date, volunteers have played for over 95,000 people. An auction featuring autographed items from some of the world’s biggest stars was also revealed, and those interested in helping and bidding can log on to musiciansoncall.org. |
Seal talked about the significance of the event. |
“Well why it’s so important because first of all, it’s not only the duty of anyone who is fortunate to be in a position that I’m in, but you’re obliged to help and to give back to a noble cause such as this one whenever you can. I was really honored, and I felt really privileged to do that tonight. I think Musicians On Call is a wonderful charity, and of course it goes to help the kids. That’s a subject that’s really close to my heart, so that’s why I’m here.” |
Gavin DeGraw who made an appearance talked about Musicians On Call. |
“I try to get to the hospitals to play for the patients. We’ve done it in New York a few times here on Manhattan, and we were in the Bronx yesterday playing for some patients, a lot of kids and some bed ridden patients as well. It’s just an amazing experience to go into a room and play music for people who are in a situation where they can use music as medicine. It’s a beautiful experience, and if no one has done it, or if you’re someone who hasn’t done it, when you do it you’ll feel like you’re really missing out on something important.” |
New York Giants Hall Of Famer Harry Carson said that the event was his last stop before rooting in person for his Super Bowl team. |
“Well, we’re here at the hard rock to watch Seal, it’s one of my wife’s favorites…and to support the benefit We are preparing to head off to Phoenix to root on the Giants, who are going to win this weekend. And that’s why we’re here to support the cause.” |
The Musicians On Call event also featured an opening set by burgeoning country act Jypsi. |
