SCARLETT JOHANSSON ON NANNY CHARACTER
Scarlett Johansson describes her character in The Nanny Diaries. |
Scarlett Johansson stars in The Nanny Diaries based on the popular best selling summer read by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, two former nannies who tell it like it really is caring for the children of New York City’s elitist couples. |
Scarlett plays Annie; a recent college grad who has her whole life ahead of her but isn’t ready to embrace it just yet. Scarlett says her character personifies American youth today. |
“Annie is a girl who just graduated from college. She has a lot of pressure on her to succeed. Her mother puts a lot of pressure on her to succeed financially. She’s like a lot of young people just graduating from college. She’s not really sure what she wants and is kind of lost.” |
Scarlett says her character becomes a nanny to escape the daily grind. |
“Annie takes the job as the nanny because she doesn’t want to face the reality of maybe doing something that she doesn’t want to do and take this office 9 to 5 job. This opportunity presents itself and she cant’ pass it up. It’s a way to completely ignore all of her problems.” |
Scarlett is currently shooting her third film with Woody Allen in Barcelona, Spain as an American tourist who falls for Javier Bardem’s sexy painter. |
