SAW IV SLICES UP BOX OFFICE
Saw IV is number one at the box office this weekend. |
Jigsaw and company have sliced the competition at the box office this weekend taking in $32 million almost tying it’s predecessor Saw III which had an opening weekend of $34 million last year. |
Scott Patterson starring as Agent Strahm says he’s not surprised that kids flocked to see the latest Saw offering of torture and mayhem. |
“I think kids like it because it’s exciting, it’s entertaining, it’s like an amusement park. They go there for that thrill, that safe thrill to be able to go on the most scariest ride and walk away unhurt and that’s what Saw is for kids. That sense of relief. I think they get addicted to that tension, that fear Oh my God and then this release.” |
Seeing Saw IV didn’t make Patterson and his partner Lyriq Bent as squeamish as other horror classics. |
“Sure cause it’s fake, it’s not real. The most horrifying thing from my past was The Exorcist when I saw The Exorcist and I saw it when I was a little kid. And I saw it the first day it came out. There was no word of mouth, I hadn’t heard about it and I still have nightmares from that film. That’s cause you’re a wimp. Did you see it? I heard about it but I didn’t see it. Mine was Jaws, go figure. For me it was real because you know that sharks are real and even though it could never be in your house it scared the crap out of me.” |
Steve Carell’s family dramedy Dan In Real Life came in second place with $12 million and 30 Days of Night drops to third from first with $7 million. |
