SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER REMEMBERED ON 30TH ANNIVERSARY DVD
It’s been 30 years since John Travolta’s Tony Monero strut his stuff on the disco ball illuminated dance floor in Saturday Night Fever. Those memories live on in the 30th Anniversary Special Collectors DVD which features commentary from director John Badham, and the influence the film had on fashion and music. |
Donna Pescow who starred as Annette, Tony’s ex-girlfriend who still held a flame for the disco king, remembers the frenzy from fans on the set. |
“I do remember one particular time we were in the trailer and John had gone in there a little earlier. I think he had his hair and make-up done and he was waiting to start. I went in there after him and the kids in the neighborhood knew he was in there and they started calling him and obviously he couldn’t go out because that would’ve been a mob scene. They sort of just shaked the trailer which was really scary. I mean suddenly this trailer started to rock like a boat and I think they pushed up the security at that point. And even though it was really nice that they liked him and they wanted to see him, it was really frightening to be inside that trailer.” |
The arrival of the DVD coincides with The Bee Gees greatest hits CD from the Brothers Gibb whose soundtrack went onto make musical history. |
“Young people like to be part of musical history and that’s what Fever was. Wherever you went Fever was being played and instead of people having lunch they were all dancing.” |
You can even learn the signature Travolta moves with dancing lessons on the DVD from choreographer John Cassese. |
