SAOSIN CHALLENGED BY CYNDI LAUPER, ADDS TOUR DATES
Saosin was challenged by their little stop at AOL’s studios where they worked up a rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” as part of their scaled down set. The band mentioned in web diaries that they wished they had another shot at it, saying they could have done better. |
We asked the band’s Cove Reber and Chris Sorenson about deciding on the track. |
[Sorenson] “Well some dudes wanted to do Mr. Big, which we didn’t want to do. We didn’t want to do it. He (pointing to Reber) wanted to do Janis Joplin or some weird0…Tracy Chapman? which nobody wanted to do. Originally I wanted to do White Lion ‘When The Children Cry’, great ballad or The Scorpions ‘Winds Of Change.'” [Reber] “I’m not a big hair metal guy.” [Sorenson] “We couldn’t decide on a song so pretty much I forced the song on everyone, so luckily as we started to learn the song we were like, ‘Whoa. This is actually a pretty good song.” |
We also asked the duo why the song was so challenging. |
[Reber] “I hate it. because I can’t ever… It’s difficult for me to remember for some reason and that’s the reason I hate it because it’s not easy. I don’t know. It’s a great song, and it’s not that I hate the song it’s just that I hate myself for being an idiot for not ever being able to remember it. It’s challenging, and that’s what we all like about the song as Chris said it’s…[Sorenson] It contains shredding bass lines by yours truly.” [Reber] Exactly!” |
Saosin has recently added tour dates for late spring, early summer. The band will kick off a tour with Poison The Well starting June 29 in Bakersfield, California. The band is currently touring Europe, and they’ll head to Japan and Australia next month. |
