SALIVA LEAVES STATIC-X, SNOCORE AND LAFTY
Saliva, with Walt Lafty subbing for Josey Scott, pulled off the SnoCore tour earlier this week, and Wayne Static comments. |
Static-X is now left as the sole headliner of the SnoCore tour now that Saliva has left the tour. The band exited the tour over the weekend when it became apparent that they needed their singer Josey Scott, who had been replaced for the tour Walt Lafty of Silvertide. The band decided to recruit Lafty after Scott’s stomach surgery. |
Static-X’s Wayne Static, with wife Tera Wray by his side, was asked about Saliva’s problem. |
“As far as I know the singer had some medical problems, and they thought they would be able to make the rest of the tour and it turns out he didn’t recover as quickly as they’d thought. So, they just ended up dropping off the tour, which is really sad. I was really looking forward to touring with them, and I know they have a lot of fans. I was looking forward to stealing some of their fans, but that’s how it rolls sometimes. Either way, we’re still out there and the other two opening bands are cool, too. So we’re just kicking ass every night and doing what we do.” |
And of the failed Walt Lafty experiment? |
[Wayne] “I’m not really sure what happened.” [Tera] “They said that they realized it didn’t sound the same, so at the last minute they kind of just backed out.” [Wayne] “Yeah, obviously when you change the singer it’s a big deal. You can’t just throw somebody in there and expect it to sound like the same band. It’s not like changing guitar players.” |
We asked Wayne Static about carrying the remainder of the SnoCore tour. |
“I don’t worry about it. People, our fans are going to come out to see us no matter who else is on the bill. For me it’s an opportunity to bring some other bands and maybe turn our fans on to some new music. I don’t feel any pressure. It doesn’t matter who is playing with us. Our fans always come out.” |
The SnoCore tour winds down May 9 in Reno, Nevada. Static-X will then embark on a run of headlining dates starting May 11 in Great Falls, Montana and ending May 30 in Odessa, Texas. |
