Black Sabbath joins Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blondie, and the Sex Pistols and Miles Davis as the major acts going into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame next year. The induction ceremony takes place in New York City in March, but the museum is housed in Cleveland. |
Most of the bands being inducted have lost members, but many would have predicted that nearly 35 years after they formed, that one of the members of Sabbath — Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, or Tony Iommi — would have passed on, but Butler said the band has been very fortunate. |
“Good fortune, I suppose. It really is. Any one of us could have gone on to the next world. It’s fate. I firmly believe in fate and everybody’s on this earth for a purpose and when your time’s up, your time is up. I think it’s all by the hand of god.” |
2006 may be a make-good year for the Rock Hall, who has been criticized by several media for not having certain bands in the hall. Now they’ve rectified that with having both Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath in the hall. |
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria on March 13. |
