RUSSELL SIMMONS WORKING ON HEALTH CARE BENEFITS FOR ARTISTS
Russell Simmons and the Hip Hop Summit Action Network are currently hard at work fighting for artists’ rights and benefits. In the wake of Foxy Brown’s recent announcement that she’s totally deaf, many fans have become aware of the fact that many musicians don’t have healthcare benefits. |
Simmons and his organization plan to make rectifying the situation a priority. He said, |
“We’re involved in many philantropic, social, and political initiatives, one of the things is equal, high quality healthcare for all Americans. Today we’re here in support of an artist who supports these kinds of initiatives for all Americans. Foxy is receiving the best care because she’s very fortunate. A lot of artists may not have that good fortune and they fall in the same struggle as many Americans who don’t have the access to good healthcare. That’s something that we are addressing as part of the Millions More Movement. It’s something we’re addressing as part of our civil rights movements and as part of the Hip Hop Summit’s influence we want to make it part of our agenda.” |
