RUSH HOUR 3 RUSHES TO NUMBER ONE (August 12)
Rush Hour 3 is number one at the box office this weekend. |
Rush Hour 3 tops The Bourne Ultimatum this weekend taking in $50 million at the box office. |
Director Brett Ratner reached his goal of making the third Rush Hour even bigger and better than the first two. |
“We wanted to top the first two movies and that means getting a bigger action set piece. That’s why we chose the Eiffel Tower because we wanted something that was so spectacular. I didn’t even know we were gonna get permission to shoot there. We actually got permission to shoot on the Eiffel Tower. I think that’s gonna deliver as far as expectations, audience expectations. How are we gonna top the first two? Rush Hour 2 is a much bigger film than the first Rush Hour and I think that this one is even much bigger film than both of them combined.” |
Chris Tucker who stars as Detective James Carter in the buddy cop series says he gives the fans exactly what they want, and would be ready for a fourth. |
“You know we had so much fun with this one. I’ll just wait to see what the fans say. If the fans say we like that one we want another one, then I’ll think about it. I would love to do another one but I always want to give the fans what they want. If they want to see another one, we’ll try to make that happen.” |
Looks like the fans have spoken. The original Rush Hour took in $33 million. Rush Hour 3 failed to surpass the highly successful sequel Rush Hour 2 which grossed $67 million it’s opening weekend. |
