RUN DMC LIVE AT MONTREUX 2001 DVD COMING NEXT MONTH
The greatest hip hop group of all time, Run-DMC, no longer performs following the 2003 murder of group member Jam Master Jay. But hip hop fans can catch the group at its best on the forthcoming Run-DMC Live At Montreux DVD which hits stores on April 3rd. The DVD is sixty-six minute slong and is currently the only live DVD of the group commercially available. |
Group member DMC explained why surprisingly there aren’t several Run-DMC live DVD available. He said, |
“There’s million of people that filmed us but we were so busy doing it, we didn’t have time to think about releasing it. And everytime, like it was like if you came to a Run-DMC show and filmed it, you were so mesmerized by the live show, you didn’t have to go back and say, ‘Yeah I ‘m use this and put it out.’ You would just store it away and look for the next show. Cause we would always say we were so busy doing everything, we didn’t have time to sit back and worry about, ‘Oh we in on MTV, oh we got nominated for the Grammy.’ We didn’t care. Our whole thing was could we get on but I think what happened now is Montreux the Jazz festival is big and significantly it’s really not about Run-DMC either. This is about hip hop because at the Montreux Jazz Festival you got Miles Davis, you got Eric Clapton, you got Earth Wind & Fire. You got all great bands from all different musical genres.” |
The DVD’s tracklisting includes Intro, “It’s Like That,” “It’s Tricky,” “Rock Box”/”Sucker MCs”/Freestyle/”Here We Go”/”Beats To The Rhyme” (medley), “King Of Rock,” Interlude “Mary Mary,” “Walk This Way,” “School Of Old,” “It’s Over,” Run’s Freestyle, “Peter Piper,” and “Down With The King.” |
