RUN DMC HAS NO MUSIC IN THE VAULTS
Earlier this week Run DMC released a new live concert DVD titled, Run DMC Live At the Montreux Jazz Festival 2001. The DVD was shot before the untimely murder of group member Jam Master Jay in 2003. The group reissued three of their albums 1985’s King Of Rock, 1986’s Raising Hell, and 1988’s Tougher Than Leather with some previously unreleased material in 2005. Unfortunately for diehard fans there isn’t any other unreleased tracks in the vault. |
Group member DMC explained that the group didn’t really record too much extra material and they would immediately put out albums as soon as they had ten songs. The rapper said, |
“They just released the Run DMC catalogue about two years ago. They re-released it. So we put out all the studio, the outtakes and all that because see one thing about us when we went to the studio we didn’t like….Rapper today, ‘Oh you working on a new one,’ ‘Yeah I got three hundred records.’ We went in there and said, ‘One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Put it out.’ ‘Bust it, whoa LL coming, back in the studio, one, two, three, yeah, put it out.’ And it wasn’t to be better than LL, he challenged us.” |
Run-DMC’s last studio album was 2001’s Crown Royal. The set was pushed back several times because of sample-clearance and single-release-clearance issues. |
