RUFF RYDERS CEO ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES
Ruff Ryders co-CEO Darrin “Dee” Dean was arrested on Thursday (May 31st) after police discovered over a kilo of cocaine in the customized SUV. The Chevrolet van was pulled over on Palisades Interstate Parkway for having a broken tail light and officers smelled marijuana. After ordering a K-9 unit, officers discovered a trap door built into the rear of the van. When officers lowered the compartment, they discovered 1-1/2 kilos of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber weapon. |
The van’s driver and Dean were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a handgun and possession of arnhandgun while conducting narcotics violations. Both men were released from Bergen County jail on Friday (June 1st), after posting $342,000 bail. |

Dean founded the Ruff Ryders label in 1998 with his brother Joaquin “Waah” Dean and sister Chivon Dean. The label launched the career of their nephew Swizz Beatz, DMX, the Lox (Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch), Eve, Jin, and Drag-On. But by last year, Eve, Drag-On, Swizz Beatz, and Styles P were all pursuing careers outside of the Ruff Ryders umbrella. Waah Dean still remained optimistic that the family was still united.
