ROSE MCGOWAN INJURED IN GRINDHOUSE

Rosario Dawson talks about the graphic rape scenes in Descent and how they affected the actors emotionally.

Playing a one-legged mercenary was a grind for Grindhouse star Rose McGowan who suffered minor injuries performing her stunts for directors Quentin Tarrantino and Robert Rodriguez.

In Planet Terror Rose is the heroine flying through the air to kill the zombies. Even though she is suspended by a cable she couldn’t get enough momentum to take off. And in Death Proof riding shotgun with Kurt Russell proved to be a smashing stunt.

“Well I have the heavy gray cast on one side and a four inch boot but I still had to run up to it to be able to jump over to be pulled over on a cable and I guess I didn’t run fast enough or something so I didn’t get lift off and I kind of smacked the wall but you know the most injured I got on it was the one in Quentin’s movie when I’m smashing in the Plexiglas in the car because that was really my face. It would just look stupid if you saw the back of my head the whole time so that kinda hurt. And then another one I was just doing a little backbend to show Marley Shelton’s character about my tricks and I lost some feeling in my fingers which I still am missing but someday maybe it’ll return.”

Despite her bumps and bruises Rose says she treasures the photos that were taken of her near misses.

“One where I barely made it over the wall. Yeah that one sucked but the rest of them they’re so much fun. There’s actually a companion book to Death Proof and Planet Terror and I’ve gone over the wall and I’ve landed across the tarmac on my stomach and I have a huge smile on my face cause I think that stuff’s hilarious.”

Grindhouse is currently playing in theaters.
