ROLLING STONES KEITH RICHARDS HEAD BAD LUCK FOR ERTEGUN?
Rolling Stones Keith Richards was on hand to induct The Ronettes into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Monday night in New York City, and he said that it might have been his own head that did in Ahmet Ertegun. Richards and bandmate Mick Jagger were very close to Ertegun, who is intertwined with the success of the legendary band. |
The Atlantic Records founder passed away a few months ago, and he died from a head injury sustained in a fall while he dozed off at a Rolling Stones show. We asked the Rolling Stones guitarist about Ertegun backstage at the Rock Hall Ceremony and he said his head may have been to blame sharing that Ertegun had to feel where Richards had recently sustained a head injury in a fall from a tree. |
“He deserves an extra (tribute) from me. With him gone the old way of… I mean this was a man who loved music. He ran a record company and loved music, which is very rare these days. With him gone a whole generation and spirit is gone in that respect. I’m just sorry that I asked Ahmet to rub my head when he asked me about my fall because about ten minutes later he took the fall himself. So it’s not really good luck to rub my head.” |
Richards wasn’t involved in the live tribute to Ertegun, but taped comments by the Rolling Stones shared nothing but fond memories for a music industry pioneer. Richards recently wrapped up filming the next installment of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, playing the father of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. |
