ROGER WATERS, PRINCE, JACK JOHNSON KICK OFF WEST COAST FESTIVAL SEASON AT COACHELLA 2008
Roger Waters, Prince, Portishead, Jack Johnson, My Morning Jacket and The Raconteurs kick off the West Coast festival season in grand style in the Cali desert. |
The Coachella Music festival was held this past weekend in Indio, California on April 25, 26, and 27, and it starred Roger Waters, Prince, Jack Johnson, Scars On Broadway, The Raconteurs, Serj Tankian and Death Cab For Cutie among many others. The festival spanned three days, and fans were treated to a great mix of music and atmosphere in the Palm Springs desert. With Prince being added just a few weeks before the festival, fans were eagerly awaiting an extremely rare festival appearance by Prince and he certainly didn’t disappoint the masses. Without a doubt the most anticipated performance of the weekend was the closing performance of Roger Waters, who performed hits from Pink Floyd’s catalog as well as the entire album of “Dark Side of the Moon.” In fact it was Roger Waters who became the only artist to perform back to back sets in the critically acclaimed festivals history. |
We caught up with the legendary Mick Jones formerly of The Clash, who is now performing with his band Carbon Silicon to get his thoughts on performing in the hot California Desert. |
“Oh, it’s going to be hot. We figured we’d better not be in our sweat pants. We better wear something casual. We got to figure it out.” |
Other acts who performed at Coachella in 2008 were MGMT, Hot Chip, Flogging Molly, Kate Nash, Junkie XL, Kraftwerk, My Morning Jacket, Aphex Twin, Battles, The Breeders, Fat Boy Slim, John Butler, Vampire Weekend, Dwight Yoakim and The Verve to name just a few. |
For those of you who missed another fantastic year in the California desert at Coachella, we put together a few photo galleries of the weekend. The first gallery consists of Roger Waters, The Raconteurs, Jack Johnson and My Morning Jacket. The second gallery consists of The Verve, Serj Tankian, Scars on Broadway and Portishead.
