ROGAN AND RUDD HAVE STORIES STOLEN FOR KNOCKED UP
Judd Apatow called his stars to get their real stories for his Knocked Up script. |
The 40 Year-Old Virgin writer director Judd Apatow called stars Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen for their real life stories so he could use them for their characters in Knocked Up. |
Seth plays Ben, the slacker character who just hangs out with his friends until a one-night stand with Katherine Heigl forces him to get his life together. Judd wrote the part with Seth in mind. |
“It’s nice to hear that I’ve inspired Judd to create a character who’s a loser, who has no job, limited friends and resources. That’s like the alternate version of me. It’s me if I wasn’t able to write or act which I barely am but I do just enough that I’m not exactly that character.” |
Paul Rudd is married to Judd’s real life wife Leslie Mann in the film. His character is struggling with his independence and wanting to just hang out with the guys and raising a family. Paul says Judd took a story from his real marriage to Julie Yaeger. |
“There were several things that I told Judd that my wife hates about me. I do know that with fantasy football or baseball there are so many guys that are so into it and it seems that every year it just gets bigger and bigger. I thought that’s something that a lot of people would kind of relate to because it is a great way to shut out the rest of the world. I know what it’s like to have a kid with the changes in your life, what they can be and what you sacrifice, what you gain and all of that. I get the whole thing, you just want to do something for yourself.” |
Many of Paul’s real life marital disputes also made it into the film as well which were re-enacted and exaggerated by Leslie and Paul on screen. Knocked Up opens Friday in theaters. |
